The Duck Tape Regatta is an exhilarating fund-raiser organized to benefit local charities in the Hampton Roads area. Local charities have been able to raise more than $150,000 over the last ten years. This year the Duck Tape Regatta will be handed over to the Roc Solid Foundation and we would like to invite you to participate. The event takes place Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Willoughby Harbor – a VMG Marina in 1525 Bayville Street in Norfolk, VA.
How does it work? DTR participants/teams are given four hours to create a "boat" out of a kit that contains a sheet of plywood, two 2x4s, a roll of duct tape, and a pound of screws. The boats are then manned and launched into a race for seaworthiness and speed. The heart pumping adrenaline and cheering of the crowd rivals that of any NASCAR, Derby or Olympic race! The anticipation is pure excitement!
Participating in such a thrilling event is only part of the Duck Tape Regatta experience. All of the proceeds from sign-up fees, sponsorships, and generous donations are given to the Roc Solid Foundation. Your participation and the presents of your family and friends help to build hopes for kids with cancer.
We look forward to seeing our devoted teams from years past and the inspired faces of newcomers. Let's make this year the best yet! What are you waiting for sign up now!
